M & M Math

A great math activity is M & M Math.  It is a fun traditional activity that our preschool does.
The M & M's are sorted by color, graphed, counted and recorded.   Not only are great math concepts taught but a great reward to eat when you are done.

Gingerbread Men

Recently, we had a parent visit our preschool. She made Gingerbread Men for the children to decorate.  This was a fun and yummy activity.  We love our Mother Helpers!  Thank you!

Turkey Talk

The month of November was filled with art and creative writing about turkeys.  First off, we used coffee filters, markers and a little spritzing of water to make turkeys that we hung on the windows so the light could shine through.

Second, we talked about the Letter C.  Turkeys love to eat corn.  Since corn starts with the Letter C we painted the Letter C on the easel and made a turkey out of the same letter.
Finally, we wrote stories about turkeys.   Thanksgiving is a hard holiday for turkeys, so we wrote about it.  Enjoy!

Halloween Party

Our Halloween Party was visited by some special visitors that told us stories, danced a jig, played games and made witch's brew.

Halloween Art and Craft

Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year.  I love to do Halloween arts and crafts with my students during this time.  I have posted their Frankensteins made out of tissue rolls and their paintings of jack-o-lanterns that they painted with acrylic paint.  My students love to paint on the easel.

The Red Barn

A yearly event for Oak View Pre-School is visiting The Red Barn.  We have so much fun riding on the big wagon out to the pumpkin patch, picking pumpkins and going down the big slides, but this year we were surprised when we got to also pedal tractors around the track.  It was so much fun racing each other. Then it was back to the barn for yummy applesauce doughnuts.  It was a great day!

Granny Smith

Oak View Pre-School started off the school year with a visit from Granny Smith teaching about different varieties of apples and the many things you can make with apples.  Then the students did Apple Math and graphed their favorite kind of apple.  Afterwards Granny Smith treated us with her applesauce cookies.  They are yummy!
